Pixelation

I just purchased the home edition to try it out. When I run a photo thru it looks fine with the settings that are default. When I put it into Paint Shop Pro, everything is very pixelated and mottled. Sure, no noise, but heavy pixelation. For example, a sky with mottled clouds as a background comes out blotches of different color blues with big patches of square pixels showing everywhere. What's happening?
