Pro Plug-in & 16 Bit In Elements 3?

Post by daveabrey »

Vlad,

First, congrats on getting the Mac version finished :). I'm getting some very good results so far :).

Now, my question... does the Mac pro plug-in work in 16 bit mode in Photoshop Elements 3? Apparently PSE 3's 16 bit support is much like PS 7's, so not all functions are available in 16 bit mode. I haven't got PSE 3 yet, so I have no way of testing it :(.

Thanks,

Dave.

Dave,

Thank you for the kind words! But I would say that the Mac version is not finished yet, it has just started, there is a long way to go. :)

I also do not have a direct access to PSE 3 right now so I can only guess. My guess is if PSE works the same way PS 7 or PS CS do then 16-bit mode should work fine with Neat Image plug-in.

Vlad,

Thanks for the speedy reply, as always :).

I was thinking the same about PS 7, as that had limited 16 bit support compared to PS CS. So I would suspect that if it works OK in PS 7 16 bit, then it might be OK in PSE 3. I'm not sure about PS CS though, as it has much wider 16 bit support than PS 7 and Elements. I guess the only way I'll know for sure is to try it out :). If you can wait a few weeks, I should be picking up PSE 3, so I can give some feedback then, and answer my own question :).

I just got Elements 3, and tried Neat Image on a 16 bit image, and I can confirm that it works :).
