canon s50 profile - better results with no fine tuning

Post by botulism2 »

i tried out the canon s50 profile at 400 iso for jpeg. i got better results with no fine tuning at all. yes this would be the correct profile for my camera and for the image in particular. looking at the proflie numbers it seems the difference between green and blue channel noise is not so great. looking at my pictures the blue channel noise is massive in comparison to the green. my images were tungsten balanced. do you think this explains the problem? would there be likely to be a massive difference between tungsten and daylight balanced image noise levels in the blue channel?

It is possible that white balance difference changes the noise but it is difficult to say in general what is going on in this particular case.

The easiest way to figure this out is to build a new profile for the image you process, not use some ready-made one. Then we would see what the profile shows to start with.
