V3 and Multi Xeon HT

Post by blondl »

Hi,

I'm running NeatImage pro+ V3.0 on a workstation with Win XP and 2 Xeons @3,06 GHz with activted Hyperthreading. In the release history is claimed that V3 will support MP and HT. When I look at the TaskManger at working time only one CPU is full of load and the other three are near zero load. The overall working time is about the half as in V2.61 was.

Is Xeon CPU not supported or have I to do some setting i didn't found?

Thank you for helping me and excuse my english, sorry.
Greetings

Have you enabled multiprocessor support in Options?

Also, do you process one image or several filtration jobs in the queue?

Put several images in the queue, let NI process them. In this case, all processors will be busy.

okay, I see.

This means for single image processing the multi-cpu support is meaningless, but in the Q each picture will be processed form "it's own CPU" (4 CPUs=4pictures simultaneously) until one is finished, and then the next one until the end of Q.

Right?

More or less because this is only in part up to Neat Image and a lot depends on Windows who manages task distribution across CPUs.
