Noise Profile Matching

Post by ej.photo »

As we all know, people use a variety of software to open images.
It would be a major improvement if it were possible to match profiles with the 'Creation Software' EXIF data.
Surely this is more important than, say, exposure - this will vary across images from any particular picture taking session. The only reason I could envisage 'exposure' being used would be for long exposure purposes, which must be rarer than matching software.
Any takers?

Actually Neat Image already takes into account the software field. When you open an image in NI it shows something like "Software: v981-79" in the EXIF information box. These data are used for profile matching too, so if you have different software tools and they do identify themselves in the EXIF data fields then NI can distinguish the difference and find correct profiles during matching.

If a software tool doesn't leave any traces in the EXIF data then matching has no basis and you have to manually separate profile into different folders and then use one of these folders for matching.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Thanks Vlad.
Does that mean that by default, NI will put highest priority to matching the Software to the Noise Profile? If not, the option to modify this field priority as with other EXIF information, could still be valid.
Cheers.

No, it is not of highest priority but it does make a difference so if other parameters are equal or close then the Software will make the choice. we have selected the priority to make this parameter matter but not interfere when it is not relevant. Yes, there could be an option to manually set the priority for that too.

Thank you for the suggestion,
Vlad
