Preserving certain parts of an image

Post by GoranM »

Is it possible to use selective parts of an image, such as lassoing a part of an image and Neat Imageing that selection only, leaving the rest of the image untouched.

Yes, this is perfectly possible if you use the plug-in version of Neat Image. You can select an area in the image using your editor's selection tools and then filter the selection using the Neat Image plug-in.

Hope this helps.

I have tried this already and am thinking I am missing a step.
I have Neat Image Home+ using it with PS CS and JASC PSP.
I have used the lasso tool, made the selection, went to filters/neat image and the entire image comes up, not the selection I made with the lasso tool.
Do I have to use another layer for this or am I missing some other step.
A possible step by step would be handy if it isn't too long and time consuming.

It's ok. I've figured it out. I missed out on creating a layer. If there is a way of doing it without duplicating a layer or layer via cut, please let me know.

Neat Image plug-in will SHOW the whole image but will FILTER only the selected part. It is better to have the whole image in the plug-in to be able to build a more accurate noise profile.

So, you only have to make a selection in PS and apply Neat Image plug-in.
